Nursery Class

Holy Trinity Nursery Class

We are pleased to announce that Holy Trinity School received permission from the Department of Education to run a nursery off site from 1st January 2025. Our new nursery class is now up and running, providing education for preschool age children. The nursery is situated down the road from the school at Tringham Hall. It is however, very much part of our school and benefits from the same support and resources as the rest of our classes.  The nursery hours are term time, 9am to 3pm, and we currently provide government funded hours only.

Our Nursery

Our nursery is led by a qualified Early Years Foundation Stage teacher and follows the DfE Early Years Framework.  The nursery teacher and her team are fully supported by our Early Years Leaders as well as the Headteacher at Holy Trinity School.

We believe:

  • We can offer quality first nursery teaching by qualified teachers.
  • We can impact positively on children's early development.
  • Every child is an individual and develops at their own pace. It is essential that additional learning needs are identified early, and support put in place. The school SENCO who works closely with a range of agencies will spend time in the nursery observing children and working collaboratively with staff.
  • We can establish a smooth transition from nursery into Reception and maximise learning opportunities.
  • The safeguarding of the children will be of paramount importance and will benefit from the expertise of our dedicated academy safeguarding team.

During sessions we timetable plenty of discovery, free flow and child-led activities that incorporate a range of exploration, experimentation and opportunities for age-appropriate risk-taking.  The nursery is able to use the school's resources such as the library, sporting equipment as well as the vast outside learning environments.  We are committed to utilising all the resources available to us to ensure the nursery meets and exceeds the expectations of all involved. We already have a team of passionate, dedicated staff in our school, and we will also be able to draw upon the expertise from the following:

  • Expertise and infrastructure within The Alliance Multi-Academy Trust with many years' experience leading state nurseries.
  • Local schools and nurseries
  • Surrey County Council Early Years team

Admissions

Admissions are processed a term in advance, new intakes occur in January, April and September.

Applications for September will close on the last day of school in May, applicants will be contacted in June.

Applications for January will close on the last day of school in October, applicants will be contacted in November.

Applications for April will close on the last day of February, applicants will be contacted in March.

Age range

The nursery will accept 2, 3 and 4-year-olds (depending upon their birth date).

If places are available, a child can be admitted into the Nursery two terms after their 2nd (second) birthday and one term after their 3rd (third) birthday.

Funding

The nursery will accept Funded Early Education for two-year old (FEET) and early years funded entitlement for 2 year old working parents to a maximum of 15 hours.  We also accept funded Early Education for three and four year olds to a maximum of 15 hours or 30 hours depending on eligibility, 38 weeks per year.

At this stage, we will not be accepting fee-paying places until we have prioritised children entitled to state-funded education.  This is subject to review.

3 & 4-year-olds

Currently, all 3 and 4-year-olds are entitled to up to 15 hours of free early education a week for up to 38 weeks a year, from the term after they turn 3 years old. This is known as the universal entitlement. Further information is available on Surrey's Family Information Service website.

Since September 2017 the government has also increased the number of free funded hours for 3 and 4-year-olds from 15 to 30 hours a week for working families who meet the eligibility criteria. This is known as the extended entitlement.

Further information on 30 hours funded provision, the eligibility criteria and how to apply can be found on Surrey’s Childcare Choices website: https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/

If you are eligible for 30 hours of free funded early education you will receive an eligibility code which you should provide us with when you apply for a nursery place for your child – see Nursery Admissions section.

Ensuring your ongoing eligibility for 30 hours of free funded early education for 3 & 4-year-olds

Approximately every 3 months you will need to reconfirm that you are still eligible for 30 hours of free funded early education. If you do not reconfirm your eligibility, Holy Trinity Nursery and the Local Authority will be told that you no longer meet the requirements for a free 30-hour nursery place for your child resulting in government funding for your child’s place being reduced to the 15 hours of universal entitlement.

Parents will be expected to notify HM Revenue and Customs of any change in circumstances that may affect their eligibility.

To reconfirm your eligibility for 30 hours of free funded early education visit the government’s Childcare Choices website.

2-year-olds - FEET Funding

Free Early Education for 2-year-olds (FEET) offers eligible families 15 hours of free early education a week for 38 weeks a year.

For more information about FEET, to find out if you are eligible and to apply for FEET funding, visit https://www.gov.uk/help-with-childcare-costs/free-childcare-2-year-olds

If you are eligible you will receive a FEET application number which you should provide us with when you apply for a nursery place for your child – see Nursery Admissions section.

Prior to the offer of a nursery place being made you will be asked to provide a copy of the letter confirming your child’s FEET funding eligibility as they will not be able to access a 2 year old place without this.

2-year-olds - Working parents entitlement

From April 2024 early education and childcare for working parents is being extended to support more families.
